As a Hampshire wedding photographer you get to see some amazing locations. We recently had the pleasure of photographing Marie and Tom’s wedding day at the beautiful St Lawrence Church in Alton. Tom is in the cadets and the ceremony was conducted by the vicar associated to Tom’s cadets; he has known Tom for many years and was able to provide a truly personal service filled with lot’s of humor and affection.
Post ceremony there was definitely some unusual drink being passed between the groomsmen (I believe it was called hair of the dog!). Considering they had decided to stay up and drink absinthe the night before, I think we were all just pleased they were still standing!
After a few group and family photos at the Church, we headed off to Alton Maltings centre where the hand touches Marie and Tom had spent months planning, had completely transformed the venue into a vision of delicate purple butterflies and truly amazing sweet trees created by one of the talented bridesmaids! They really did look too good to eat!
If you have read any of my previous blogs, you will know that I just love speeches, you get to find out so much about the couple and their families and you just can’t help be drawn in and moved by some of their stories. I hope my couple won’t mind me mentioning this, but one the stories which most moved me was reference to Marie’s mum, a happy, emotional lady whose smile only ever disappeared during the day when she was crying tears of happiness. She has suffered a couple of strokes, which unfortunately have left her unable to speak apart from the yes or no. She is completely able in every way, I can’t imagine just how frustrating this must be. Watching her emotions during the speeches really moved me, to express such joy, love and happiness without words is really quite humbling.
After the speeches, Marie and Tom had arranged a number of props for a photo booth, the guests were definitely not backwards at coming forwards!
I hope you enjoy this selection of images from their day ♥
