Powder Paint Portrait Session
So this is how the story starts of our powder paint portrait session. Rachel, a previous bride contacted me ….
“You know that paper is the gift for your 1st wedding anniversary, well I’d like to arrange a portrait session. We did the beach for our engagement session, our wedding was a English country garden, so what would you suggest?” Well, I am always up for a couple who ask “What would you suggest?” as this means they will probably be up for anything!
Now I have always loved the bright colours of Indian weddings and religious festivals, so how can we bring this into a shoot…. As I sit looking at my five year old with paint all over her, boom, a powder paint portrait session! Surely Rachel and her very large hunky army type husband are not going to be up for getting totally covered in powder paint, are they….
Rachel “Yes I love it. Terry won’t but I just won’t tell him, it’ll be a surprise!”
And so the story begins.
So Rachel on board, Terry none the wiser, powder paint on order, where can we go where we can throw paint around and not get into trouble? Rachel has it covered! A florist by trade she has somewhere in mind where wild heather grows, but beyond the beauty of the heather is a disused, weed ridden place. Sounds perfect, lets do it!
And so we find ourselves on a very bright Sunday morning, camera and paint in hand, Rachel with her illuminated 1 and & signs, and a husband with a look of “really, what are we doing here?”
Rachel had secretly packed away two plain white tee shirts just for the occasion, again more confusion from Terry as to why he needed to get changed from his perfectly good, fashionable tee shirt. And so we let him in on our plans and remarkably he was more than happy to join in, aside from wishing he had worn a less expensive pair of jeans and possibly not driven his new car (mmmm we hadn’t thought about that.)
No more words of encouragement required, let the powder paint battle commence, I hope you enjoy the results!
Thank you Rachel and Terry for being such good fun! x
